The Shining

If you haven’t already seen The Shining, you aren’t a fan of horror films. The 1980 psychological horror film was produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick and based on Stephen King’s 1977 novel of the same name.

The film follows a writer and recovering alcoholic who works off-season as a caretaker of the isolated historic Overlook Hotel. Unfortunately, the writer’s sanity quickly deteriorates as he comes under the influence of supernatural forces that inhabit the hotel. While The Shining is considered a classic horror movie, at the time, Stephan King criticized the film.
