Losing Hope

During the first few days of the search, the crew pulled a total of nine survivors out of the rubble, five adults and four children. They had been trapped beneath the snow-covered ruins for at least 58 hours. After discovering these nine people, things took a turn for the worse.

The temperature was continuing to drop and the heavy snow was turning into ice. As time passed, people were beginning to lose hope that anyone else would be found alive. Even if they did, it was unlikely that they would survive ultimately.
