The Marines?

One day, Steve was having a conversation with a good friend of his that was visiting town. He mentioned how much trouble he was having in finding a job. This friend of his then suggested a job Steve would be interested in.

He suggested that Steve sign up for the marines. It was such a crazy idea that Steve actually considered it. After reflecting on it for a long time, he decided to pursue this opportunity and share this with his girlfriend.
