6. Expectations

Adam knew that he shouldn’t get his hopes up.

A fortune? From his missing father? Come on. He had a feeling that this was all smoke and mirrors, but a part of him couldn’t help but hope that his father had left him something good inside the trailer.

His dad hadn’t been around his entire childhood, and Adam had struggled with that, as anyone would. As he started to read his father’s letter, his heart pounded in excitement.  

7. The Longest Drive

The letter included the coordinates of the trailer, and Adam immediately packed his bags and drove three hours to the abandoned property. He spent the journey thinking about the secretive, closed-off father he knew from childhood.

The forest surrounding the trailer was isolated and dense, and it was also chillingly silent, with not even birdsong to keep Adam company.

Adam ventured into the woods, hoping to find some answers…
