World’s Biggest Wine Forger

California wine connoisseur Rudy Kurniawan ran a very simple yet effective scam for years.  He would buy cheap wines, repackage them and sell them as more expensive vintages. It sounds like this doesn’t work but it did and remarkably well.

Rudy would take a $15 bottle of wine and sell it for $100 bottle of wine and years, made millions. In just 2006, in just a single auction Kurniawan sold $24.7 million worth of fake luxury wine.
