George Reeves is the original Superman. He was an actor in films and television shows and was responsible for the Man of Steel becoming such an American icon. Reeves claimed that, although he was grateful for the opportunity to play Superman’s role, it did not help his career.

Reeves said that he had difficulty getting other roles because he was too closely associated with Superman. Reeves stated, “[Producers] will not use me.” Reeves also had done Gone with the Wind but his resume mostly contained The Adventures of Superman and the Superman films.
