2 Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt signed up for the role of Rory Devaney in 1997. He was an IRA member looking to purchase missiles from New York to transport them to Ireland in The Devil’s Own. This was a risky territory at the time for Hollywood, but it still performed well at the box office thanks to Pitt’s star power.

The film was mostly criticized by critics for historical inaccuracy. Pitt actually stated that the film was the “most irresponsible piece of filmmaking” he’d ever seen.

Pitt accepted the $10-million cheque to be the star of the movie, despite his protestations. As they say, wisdom comes with experience. Pitt may have done some soul searching. The Devil’s Own is unlikely to be considered one of his finest works.
