1 Boom Operator

We all know what we see when we watch a movie. But that’s just part of the package. Also important is what we hear. Boom operators are responsible for looking after and holding the microphones, aka the boom.

These booms need to be placed correctly. It takes a lot of strength and muscle as they are held high above the actors’ heads for prolonged periods. It can be dangerous to let the boom fall or allow it to be seen in the shot.
